Industrial Range

Wastewater treatment for industrial settings

Overview

A wide range of options are available for the treatment of wastewater from industrial processes.

These include aeration, DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation), membrane plants, and SBR’s (Sequential Batch Reactors).

Please enquire if possible with nature of industrial process, daily flows, constituents of wastewater and effluent quality required and advise site location.

Industrial Building

Bodigester industrial wastewater treatment

Many industrial processes produce wastewater that requires specialist treatment. These processes include food preparation, tanning, brewing, electroplating and vehicle wash water.

BES offers a very wide range of treatment plants for industrial wastewater processes, those available include:-

Submerged Aerated Filter (SAF)

Moving Bed Biological Reactor (MBBR)

Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)

Membrane Filtration *

*Membrane Filtration involves pressurising the wastewater so that the water molecules pass through a semi permeable membrane but the polluting molecules do not. Skilled installation and operation are essential, but this is a highly advanced method of treatment providing high quality effluents.

BES has sold a £1million membrane filtration plant for a new ‘Ready Meals’ factory in Somerset, England.

Each project is assessed individually by BES and the treated effluent can either be discharged into a watercourse or a public foul sewer. Charges normally apply for discharges into foul sewers but these can potentially be minimised by the use of on-site treatment at the factory to reduce the effluent strength before discharge. Charging formulae include the strength of the effluent as well as the volume.

When considering a project involving industrial wastewater it is important to secure an agreed method of disposal at an early stage in the factory plans.

To make an initial assessment of treatment needs BES would appreciate as much of the following information as possible.

1. Approximate site location.

2. Description of industrial process.

3. Maximum daily volume of wastewater with an indication of peak flow rates.

4. The availability of a public foul sewer or watercourse to receive the effluent discharge.

5. Any analytical data available for the wastewater.

6. Any specific requirements from regulators for the effluent quality to be discharged into a foul sewer or watercourse.

Given sufficient data BES will provide an initial indication of the treatment required.
