Servicing recommendations
Accessories
Air blowers
The air blower is designed to operate continuously 24 hours a day, but may be operated on a timer system if lightly loaded. The basic recommendations for a 50% loaded ‘T’ Range Biodigester is a continuous cycle of 15 mins on / 15 mins off.
Do not turn off for long periods. The air blower should be checked regularly.

-
The blowers’ air filter should be checked and cleaned or replaced.
-
The rubber diaphragms within the air blower should be checked and then replaced every 3 years.
-
The pipework and fittings within the Biodigester should be checked
-
Full maintenance instructions are available as a download.
-
The liquid transfer port and baffle from inner to outer chamber should be checked and cleaned.
-
The thickness of humus solids crust on the outer chamber should be checked
Accessories
Alarms
If an integral pump is fitted it is recommended that a high level alarm is fitted.
This comprises a float incorporating a switch and an externally mounted Xenon flashing beacon to alert of pump failure. These are available from us.

It is the responsibility of the plant owner to ensure that the terms of the “Consent to Discharge” are maintained. Consistent failure to do this can result in legal action.

Alarms are available to indicate failure of the air blower and to indicate high level in the
effluent pump chamber.
Accessories
Integral pumps
A check is required every 12-18 moths.
Where there is a POMA’ pump with orange tube float system this needs to be taken apart and cleaned.
Checks
Accessory checks

Every month you should check the air blower. It should be checked to ensure that it is not running excessively hot. If it is this may indicate blockage in the air delivery system or that the air filter excessively dirty.

The integral pump should be checked regularly.

The discharge from the outlet should be clear and odourless. If it is not the following may apply:
-
Emptying may be required
-
The plant may be overloaded
-
There may be chemical interference with the process. E.g. hot fat being poured down the drain, excessive use of house hold cleaning chemicals
