The term ‘Population Equivalent’ (PE) refers to sites that are not domestic housing such as offices, factories, pubs, restaurants and hotels.

 

A domestic ‘Population Equivalent’ is worked out using a standard data table (Refer to British Water Data Table Flows and Loads 4 Information).

 

For example 2.4 office workers are considered to be equivalent to one domestic resident. (This excludes sites where meals are cooked and washed up.)

 

Hence a Biodigester T6 treatment plant will deal with 6 (Domestic Population) x 2.4 = 14.4 workers on an 8 hour shift per day,
